We're back for our March event. Get ready for
National Poetry Month with an excellent lineup of Robert Priest, Cathy Petch
and David Clink. As always, there's an open mic (nine spots, first come,
first serve).
David Clink is the Board President of the Rowers
Pub Reading Series.
David has two collections of poetry: Eating Fruit Out of Season (Tightrope
Books, 2008) and Monster, (Tightrope Books, 2010). He edited the poetry
anthology A Verdant Green (Battered Silicon Dispatch Box, 2010). His next
collection of poetry, Crouching Yak, Hidden Emu, which is a collection of
humorous verse, will be coming out in the Fall of 2012.
Cathy Petch is a playwright, spoken word artist,
performer, musician and lighting designer. She hosts the Plasticine Poetry
Series, which turned five this year. Petch was recently published in Toronto
Quarterly Magazine, and her book Late Night Knife Fights has just been
published by Lyricalmyrical Press. She is a member of the 2011 Toronto
Poetry Slam Team and of the Collaborative group PENTA. Petch is happiest
onstage.
Robert Priest is the author of fifteen books of
poetry. His most recent book is Reading the Bible Backwards. He won the
Acorn People's Poetry Award for his now classic Mad Hand (1988). In his
alias as Dr. Poetry he wrote and performed thirteen segments for CBC radio's
spoken-word show Wordbeat. As a songwriter, he co-wrote the number one hit
Song Instead of a Kiss for Alannah Myles. You may have even seen him
recently singing topical songs on CBC Television's Sunday Night News. He
teaches a lyric-writing course at the University of Toronto's School of
Continuing Education.
